Teltonika begins the production of plastic and mechanical components in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Teltonika has received a building permit for the project to establish a facility for the production of plastic and mechanical components with a warehouse. The factory will be built in the Teltonika High-Tech Hill technology park in Vilnius and will be one of the largest of its kind in Lithuania.

The new facilities will be located at 6 Svylo Street in the Liepkalnis area. Two more factories of the Lithuanian high-tech company group Teltonika are being rapidly constructed in nearby locations. Next year, one of them will produce printed circuit boards, and the other – electronic devices.

"The new factory will allow us to automate the production of plastic and mechanical components, which are a significant part of the entire supply chain. We will be able to design and manufacture molds ourselves. This will help ensure even better product quality and reduce the time to market for new products by half. We also plan to enter new areas of activity, as we will be able to combine and shape components from different materials such as rubber, plastic, metal, etc.," says Arvydas Paukštys, president of the Teltonika group of companies.
He states that when the semiconductor chip factories at Teltonika High-Tech Hill Park begin operations in a few years, the factories currently under construction will play a significant role in the overall production process. They will enable us to implement a range of directives, including those related to the defense industry.

The plastics and mechanical components factory will create 300 jobs. The three-story factory will have a total area of 27,100 square meters, including a warehouse. The designers, 2L Architects, have paid great attention to the aesthetic appearance of the building and the greenery that will surround it. The main entrance of the factory will feature a large fir tree. To preserve it, the architects "cut" a corner of the building. "We began preparing for this project when we installed the plastic injection molding equipment for pilot production at the Teltonika EMS factory in Liepkalnis in the fall of 2022. Once we started molding plastic components, we tested the quality of the products and delivery times. Now we see that more and more European companies want to relocate their production to Europe for safety and faster processes, making it a necessary part of the growing demand and market plans. The increase in the supply of products from the Teltonika group of companies led to the decision to build a new facility for plastic and mechanical components," says Arnas Strioga, head of the Plastic Injection Molding department at Teltonika EMS.

The Teltonika plastics production factory will be one of the largest of its kind in Lithuania. It will be used for molding plastic components as well as for designing and producing prototypes and mass-production plastic molds intended not only for the Teltonika group of companies but also for other electronics manufacturing companies. Recruitment for the new factory is expected to begin in about a year. Job positions will include mechanical engineers, process engineers, design engineers, automation specialists, equipment regulators, operators, and metallurgy technicians.

The factory will have 265 parking spaces for employees. As with all Teltonika factories, a high level of automation will be ensured, meeting all necessary environmental requirements. Most plastic waste will be recycled and returned to the production process.

The electricity required for the factory will be sourced from renewable energy. Construction is expected to take approximately 15 months, until the fall of 2025. Teltonika will invest around 53 million euros in this project. More than 10 new industrial and administrative buildings will emerge in the 50-hectare Teltonika High-Tech Hill technology park in Liepkalnis over five years, expected to employ around 6,000 people. Last year, we began constructing two new factories: a 33,000 m² printed circuit board (PCB) factory and a new electronics assembly factory with a production capacity of over 18 million products annually. Both factories will be operational by mid-2025. The total investment in the Teltonika High-Tech Hill park will amount to several billion euros.
