UAV

Entopizo supplies a drone gps tracker built on Teltonika hardware, so you can locate, recover and review the flight path of a UAV through our live tracking plat

A drone gps tracker is a compact locating unit fitted on a UAV so the operator always knows where the aircraft is, where it landed, and what route it followed. It suits commercial drone operators, agricultural and inspection teams, and hobbyists who fly in areas where recovery after a hard landing or a lost signal is a real risk. Fitted correctly, the tracker reports position continuously through our platform, independent of the drone's own radio link to the controller.

This category is also used by owners of scooters and small boats who need a light, low power unit, since some of the same hardware fits multiple vehicle types. Below are the models we recommend for aerial use, selected for size, power draw and reporting frequency.

Why a UAV needs its own tracking device

A drone's controller link tells you where the aircraft is while it is in range and powered. It tells you nothing once the battery dies, the aircraft crashes, or it flies beyond radio range. A uav tracking device works independently, over the mobile network, so you get a last known position and, in many cases, continued reporting as long as there is battery and signal. For commercial operators this also builds a flight history that can be checked after the fact.

How to choose: weight, power and reporting

The main constraint on a drone is weight and available power, so the tracker has to be small and efficient. Points to check:

  • Physical weight and size against your payload budget.
  • Internal battery versus powering from the drone's own circuit.
  • Reporting interval, since a gps tracker for drones that only reports every few minutes will not help you pinpoint a crash site precisely.
  • Durability, since recovered units are often found after an impact.

The Teltonika FMB920 is a compact, low power option suited to lighter airframes. The Teltonika FTC921 4G is built for maximum accuracy and works well when precise last-position data matters, for example on expensive commercial platforms. The Teltonika FMB204 and FTC305 4G are generally better suited to scooters and boats, but we mention them here because the same compact form factor is sometimes used on larger UAVs with more installation space.

Installation and the subscription

Mounting on a drone means fixing the unit against vibration, keeping it clear of propellers and antennas, and routing power cleanly if it draws from the drone's battery. We advise on placement per airframe. Every tracker is sold with our SIM card already matched to the unit, access to our tracking platform, and our mobile apps, so position, history and alerts work from the first power-up with no separate SIM to source.

Buyers sometimes look for a drone flight tracker without subscription. A tracker without an active subscription can still log position to internal memory in some cases, but without a live SIM connection you get no real-time position, no instant alert if the aircraft goes down, and no remote history. Our subscription covers the SIM data, the platform, the apps and alert delivery, which is what turns the hardware into an actual recovery tool rather than a passive logger.

Typical use cases

Commercial survey and inspection operators use the tracker to log every flight automatically for client reporting. Agricultural drone operators use it to recover aircraft that go down over fields or orchards where visual recovery is slow. Hobbyists flying near water or forest use it as insurance against a lost signal.

Frequently asked questions

Can I track a drone without a subscription?

Without an active SIM subscription you lose live position updates and real-time alerts. Some data may stay stored on the device locally, but you will not have remote visibility, which is the main reason to fit a tracker in the first place.

Does the tracker add significant weight to the drone?

The units we recommend for UAV use, such as the FMB920, are chosen specifically for their compact size and low power draw, so the weight impact is minimal on most commercial and enthusiast airframes.

Will the tracker work if the drone loses its radio link to the controller?

Yes. The tracker communicates over the mobile network independently of the drone's control radio, so it continues to report position even if the controller link is lost, as long as there is mobile signal and power.

Can the same tracker be reused on another vehicle?

Some models, like the FMB204, are also suited to scooters and boats, so depending on your fleet you may be able to redeploy a unit rather than buy a dedicated one for each vehicle type.
