EXPANSION MODULES
Browse GPS tracker expansion modules from Teltonika that add CAN bus data, inputs and outputs, and extra control to your vehicle tracking setup.
GPS tracker expansion modules extend what a Teltonika tracker can read from and do with a vehicle, adding CAN bus data, extra digital outputs, diagnostic trouble codes, or immobilization control. This category is for fleet managers and installers who need more than basic position and speed, and for vehicle owners whose tracker setup needs a specific added function such as remote engine cut-off or contactless CAN connection.
The modules listed here are add-ons to an existing Teltonika tracker, not standalone devices, so they are chosen based on the vehicle type and the exact function needed.

Why add an expansion module
A base GPS tracker reports position, speed, and basic movement. Fleet operators and vehicle owners often need more: real engine data such as fuel level, odometer, and RPM from the vehicle's CAN bus, the ability to remotely disable the engine, or extra inputs and outputs to connect sensors, alarms, or relays. Expansion modules bridge the tracker to this additional vehicle data and control without replacing the tracker itself.
This matters for fleets that need accurate mileage and fuel reporting for cost control, and for owners or managers who want a remote immobilization option in case of theft.
How to choose the right module
Selection depends on the vehicle's CAN bus type, the data you want, and whether you need control (outputs) or just readings (inputs):
- Teltonika LV-CAN200 with RJ45 RS232 plug and Teltonika LV-CAN200 DTC: read CAN bus data from light vehicles, with the DTC variant also reporting diagnostic trouble codes.
- TELTONIKA ECAN02: a contactless connector for reading CAN bus data without cutting into the vehicle's wiring.
- CAN-CONTROL Teltonika and its variants (DOUT, DTC, IMMO): add specific control functions, from digital outputs to diagnostic codes to immobilizer control, depending on the variant.
- TONWON BLUETOOTH OBD2: reads vehicle data over Bluetooth through the OBD2 port, useful where a wired CAN connection is not practical.
Installers match the module to the vehicle's electronics and the fleet's reporting needs; not every module fits every vehicle, so the CAN bus type and connector should be confirmed before ordering.
Installation and how it fits the subscription
Expansion modules are fitted by a technician alongside the main tracker, wired into the vehicle's CAN bus or OBD2 port depending on the module. Once connected, the extra data or control functions appear in our platform together with the tracker's position data, under the same subscription that covers the SIM card, platform access, and apps.
There is no separate subscription for the module itself; it reports through the tracker's existing connection. Without an active subscription on the tracker, any module connected to it loses remote reporting and control, since both depend on the same live connection to our platform.
Typical use cases
A logistics fleet adds LV-CAN200 modules to read real odometer and fuel data for cost reporting instead of relying on GPS-estimated mileage. A fleet manager adds CAN-CONTROL IMMO to selected vehicles to allow remote immobilization if a vehicle is reported stolen. An installer uses ECAN02 on a vehicle where a contactless connection is preferred to avoid modifying the wiring. A small business uses TONWON Bluetooth OBD2 for a quick, less invasive data connection on a light vehicle.
Frequently asked questions
Do expansion modules work with any Teltonika tracker?
Compatibility depends on the specific tracker and vehicle CAN bus type, so our installers confirm the right combination before fitting.
What is the difference between LV-CAN200 and LV-CAN200 DTC?
Both read CAN bus data from light vehicles; the DTC variant additionally reports diagnostic trouble codes from the vehicle.
Can a module immobilize the engine remotely?
CAN-CONTROL IMMO is built for this function; it connects to the vehicle's systems to allow remote immobilization through the platform.
Do these modules need their own SIM or subscription?
No, they operate through the connected tracker and its existing subscription, which carries the SIM, platform, and app access.
