An aerial vehicle GPS tracker is built to report position reliably from a moving aircraft, drone, or powered aircraft, under vibration, altitude change, and sometimes limited mobile network coverage. This category covers aircraft tracking device options for UAV operators, private pilots, helicopter owners, and paramotor pilots who want to know where a vehicle is, confirm it landed safely, or recover it if something goes wrong. Entopizo sets these up with Teltonika hardware, our own SIM cards, and live tracking through our own platform and apps.

Each subcategory below groups the aircraft type with tracker models that fit its power supply, mounting constraints, and reporting needs. If you are unsure which model suits your aircraft, our installers can advise based on the vehicle's electrical system and where you plan to mount the unit.

Why aerial vehicles need GPS tracking

Aircraft and UAVs operate outside normal road recovery routes. A forced landing, a lost drone, or a paramotor that drifts off course all create situations where knowing the last reported position matters immediately. Gps tracking for aviation use cases also includes simple operational logging: flight paths, landing locations, and time away from base, useful for private owners and small fleets alike.

How to choose a tracker for an aircraft or drone

The choice depends mainly on power source and mounting. Some aircraft have a stable 12V or 24V supply the tracker can draw from continuously; others need a unit with its own backup battery that keeps reporting after main power is cut, which matters if an aircraft loses electrical power during an incident. Mounting space is usually tight, so compact units that can be hidden inside the fuselage or frame without affecting balance are preferred.

  • Continuous external power available: a hardwired tracker with stable 4G reporting is enough.
  • Risk of power loss or hard landing: choose a unit with internal backup battery to keep reporting.
  • Very limited space, light drones or paramotors: prioritize compact, low-weight hardware.
  • Need for forensic detail after an event: higher reporting frequency and accuracy matter more than extra sensors.

Models such as the Teltonika ATC700 4G and the Teltonika TAT140 4G are designed with backup scenarios in mind, while the Teltonika FMB920 and Teltonika FMB204 cover simpler installations where constant power is already present.

Installation and the subscription

Installation means fixing the tracker securely, wiring it to power where applicable, and testing signal and GPS fix in realistic conditions, including hangar storage if that affects visibility to satellites. The Entopizo subscription includes our SIM card already configured for data, access to our live tracking platform, mobile apps, and alerts for events such as movement, power loss, or leaving a defined area.

A tracker sold without subscription still reports GPS data, but someone has to supply and manage a SIM, pay its own data costs, and often set up a separate platform or app, which is more work for the same result. With Entopizo, the SIM, the platform, and support are part of one subscription, so the tracker works from day one.

Real use cases

Flight clubs track rental aircraft to confirm location and flight duration. Drone operators use trackers to recover UAVs that land outside the expected zone. Paramotor pilots keep a backup device on board in case the primary navigation fails. Private aircraft owners use a backup GPS tracker as an independent source of position in case other systems are unavailable after an incident.

Frequently asked questions

Can a GPS tracker work without a constant power supply on an aircraft?

Yes, models with an internal backup battery, such as the Teltonory ATC700 4G or the TAT140 4G, continue reporting for a period after main power is lost.

Is a subscription required for these trackers to work?

The tracker needs a SIM connection and a platform to display location. Entopizo includes both in the subscription, so there is nothing extra to set up.

Can the same tracker be used on a drone and later moved to another aircraft?

Most units can be remounted, though wiring and mounting method depend on the specific aircraft or drone, so check with our installers first.

Does the tracker affect the weight or balance of a light aircraft or drone?

The models we offer are compact, and installers choose placement to minimize any impact on weight distribution.
