FISHING
Find a reliable GPS tracker for boats to monitor your vessel's location, protect fishing equipment, and get alerts through Entopizo's live tracking platform.
A GPS tracker for boats gives fishermen, boat owners, and marina operators a way to know where a vessel is at all times, whether it is docked, anchored, or out at sea. This category covers trackers built for marine use, suited to small fishing boats, leisure craft, and equipment stored on board that is often targeted by theft.
Entopizo supplies these trackers with a Greek SIM card, access to our own tracking platform, and mobile apps, so the unit works as a complete monitoring system rather than a bare device.

Why boats and fishing equipment need tracking
Boats are often left unattended for long periods, at anchor, in a marina, or on a trailer. Theft of the boat itself, the outboard engine, or fishing gear is a real concern, and recovery becomes very difficult without a last known position. A marine GPS tracker also helps owners confirm that a boat has not drifted from its mooring and gives family or crew visibility into where the vessel is during a trip.
For professional and recreational fishing boat owners, a tracker also supports basic fleet oversight when more than one boat is in use, showing routes, stops, and time spent at sea.
How to choose a tracker for a boat
Marine conditions are different from vehicle use: exposure to water, lack of a permanent 12V supply, and the need for a tracker that can run on its own battery for extended periods. Consider the following points.
- Power source: some boats have a battery to wire into, others need a tracker with a strong internal battery for standalone use
- Mounting: the unit should be installed in a dry, protected compartment, away from direct water exposure
- Connectivity: 4G models such as the Teltonika ATC700 4G give a stable connection for live position updates
- Compact trackers like the Teltonika FMB204 suit smaller boats or can also be used on scooters, giving flexibility if the owner has more than one vehicle type
- Backup use: a secondary unit, such as the Teltonika TAT140 4G, can be hidden separately as a backup in case the main tracker is found and removed
Installation and the subscription
Installation on a boat usually means securing the tracker in a dry location and, where possible, wiring it to the boat battery for continuous power; battery-only models can be placed without any wiring. Entopizo can advise on placement or arrange installation depending on the boat type.
The subscription includes the SIM card with data for the tracker to report its position, access to our tracking platform and mobile app, and alerts such as movement outside a set area or sudden relocation. A tracker without a subscription can usually still store or transmit data over Bluetooth or a local connection, but it will not send real time alerts, will not update its position remotely over the mobile network, and will not give access to the live map or history through an app. For a boat, where the point is to know its location when you are not physically near it, the subscription is what makes the tracker useful.
Real use cases
A fishing boat owner installs a tracker to check the boat has not moved overnight while docked. A marina operator uses tracking across several client boats to confirm none have drifted after a storm. A boat owner hides a backup tracker inside a compartment in case thieves find and remove the primary device from the dashboard or hull.
Frequently asked questions
Can a GPS tracker work without a permanent power connection on a boat?
Yes, some models run on an internal battery and do not require wiring, which makes them suitable for boats without an easy power connection point.
Is a GPS tracker for boats waterproof?
Trackers are normally installed inside a dry compartment rather than exposed directly to water, so check the mounting location rather than relying on the device alone to handle water exposure.
What happens if I use the tracker without a subscription?
Without the subscription you lose live position updates, remote alerts, and access to the tracking platform and app, since these depend on the SIM connection we provide.
Can one tracker cover both a boat and fishing equipment stored on it?
Yes, a single tracker installed on the boat will also indicate the location of equipment stored on board, as long as the equipment stays with the vessel.
